Mitchell joined Coffey Testing in April 2026 as Perth Metro Area Manager, based in Welshpool. With more than 20 years of experience in construction materials testing, he brings extensive technical expertise and leadership experience to the role. Prior to joining Coffey Testing, Mitchell worked as a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Manager and is also a NATA Technical Assessor.
Starting his career as a geotechnician at just 16 years old, Mitchell was drawn to the industry by the opportunity to apply scientific principles to real-world construction challenges. Over the years, he has developed specialist expertise across a broad range of testing disciplines, holding signatory status in concrete, soils, aggregates, rock mechanics, asphalt and masonry testing. His strongest areas of expertise are concrete and aggregates.
Throughout his career, Mitchell has contributed to some of Australia’s most significant infrastructure and resource projects, including the Raymond Terrace to Karuah Duplication, Pacific Highway Upgrade (Yelgun to Chinderah), BHP Jimblebar Primary Crusher 3, Gateway WA, NorthLink WA, multiple Metronet projects, Tonkin Gap Project, and the Armadale Road Duplication.
In his current role, Mitchell oversees Coffey Testing’s Perth metropolitan operations, supporting laboratory teams and ensuring the delivery of high-quality testing services across Western Australia. He enjoys the challenge of managing multiple laboratories and expanding his leadership capabilities, while also valuing the opportunity to learn from respected industry leaders such as Franco Harkins.
