Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility Stage 7 Waste Cell Development – Darwin, Northern Territory

Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility - Stage 7

Coffey Testing is proud to be supporting the Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility Stage 7 Waste Cell Development, a major infrastructure project that will deliver approximately 450,000m³ of additional landfill capacity to support the Northern Territory’s long-term waste management needs.

The project involves the development of a new waste cell to extend the operational life of the Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility, supporting the continued management of waste generated across the Darwin region.

As part of our involvement, Coffey Testing is providing construction materials testing services, including HILF compaction testing, standard soil testing, coordination of external RMD testing and aggregate testing for leachate drainage materials. With testing often completed late in the afternoon and results required the following day, our Darwin team provides responsive support and rapid turnaround times to help keep construction activities progressing without delays.

Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility is owned and managed by the City of Darwin. It is the home of waste management and recycling for Greater Darwin and the only licenced landfill in the Greater Darwin Area. The facility includes best practice lined landfill cells, a waste transfer station, a recycling facility and resale shop, a garden organics waste processing facility and a renewable energy facility.
